I am not sure what I think about this hire at Ole Miss, but I know it coulda been worse. However, the retarded laughing jokes/comments make by GH22 and other State fans that have and will come tell me that opposing fans aren't too thrilled...if you aren't worried about it, then you should be able to smirk and move on...seems to not be the case. Enjoy Croom! I think a month ago, 99% of Ole Miss and Miss State fans would agree Houston Nutt is a better coach than Sly Croom. So might as well come to terms with that fact still, regardless of the location of his office!

I am certainly apprehensive about this hire and more settled today than yesterday, but it could be worse. Like we coulda went out and hired a racially acceptable assitant from somewhere to appease the media and hope with enough time he pulls a rabbit out his booty and gets bowl eligible. I just think the BS spewing from opposing fans over a guy largely thougth to be a good coach in the SEC, until he comes to Ole Miss then he is a joke...that is funny!

I see your point, and won't talk trash. Some say that a oddball coach with a significant amount of baggage, off-field marital issues, who doesn't mind bending the rules a little (or alot), and doesn't exactly have a strict discipline record, is just all too typical for Um. Therein lies alot of the animosity and point-and-laugh reactions. Not saying I feel that way, just sayin...

I am a bulldog fan and I do not like the hire. Nutt is head and shoulders above O. Good move by UM. Recruiting will not be hurt with the fast filling of the position.

that 3.5 mil was an annuity already owed i believe...may have been some negotiation of that amount based on the "golden handcuff" provision in his contract....

I am not going to lie I am not just thrilled with the hiring of Houston Nutt, he is a good coach. Now when considering the question whether he is a better coach than Croom, I would have to disagree. Nutt had mediocre seasons with a team better than States team now. He had a terriffic season last year, but it was wife a Heisman candidate in McFadden, a top national recruit in Mitch Mustain, and two other great players in Feliz Jones and Marcus Monk. If you take Croom and put him with the talent that Nutt had at Arkansas, I say Croom does the better job. Thats just me though.
