A black panther! I was deer hunting in the pine valley area around Coffeeville- on the way out and it was getting pretty dark. I had been hearing dogs running through our land (which are not our dogs and it's starting to piss me off a little) while i was making the mile or so walk back to my truck. I heard the dogs getting closer and out came this black animal, pitch black, taller than knee height, about 30 yds from me- pretty dark so I thought it was one of the dogs crossing the power line. I said "hey buddy" so the "dog" would know I was there and it whirled around and topped the next ridge of the power line faster than i've ever seen anything move. Not saying it is one- not saying it isn't- like I said it was pretty dark and didn't have my flashlight on. If I had to put a name to the animal though, i guess i'd have to make that my guess. I have had several days this year where i haven't seen ANYTHING move while deer hunting- by anything, I mean squirrels, birds, NOTHING. Makes me wonder if something in my area has everything hiding at times.. Anyone heard anything? Any ideas?

And not to get off on a tangent, but... I said "i think"- simply looking for others on here that might have had any other (serious) ideas or whatever. If I was looking for smart-mouth assholes, though, it looks like i've found the right place... Have had several helpful responses, etc on other posts, but there's always the few dumbasses that just want to think they're soooooo f'in funny..

the odds of seeing a panther are slim. the oddsof seeing a black one are astronomical. odds of seeing a black coyote, pretty good . ive seen 4.

that's what someone else said also- never seen a black coyote on our place. It was dark- the animal was black as tar- and it was wild ( you know how wild animals move in comparison to anything domesticated..) and FAST! Maybe it was a coyote.. Hopefully i'll get to see whatever it was again with a little more light...

I saw a black panther two weeks ago walking along a tree line just off the road, I was driving on hwy 3 my way back to the camp between Redwood and Satartia - I stop my truck just to watch it - at first I though it was a dog, but I saw its long tail so I stop and sure thing it was a Black Panther - I know what I saw - don't care if any one belives me.

Are u 12? You said it was dark and you didnt have a flashlight, but it might have been a black panther. Never been one verified in mississippi. Every time someone reports one it real similar to your story. You might have seen an alien, or a ghost, or a horse, it goes on and on. Get a picture, or a daylight sighting where your positive of what u saw, and i might give it some credibility. Otherwise, stay home.

Once again, i DID say that it was dark and that i didn't have a flashlight- looking to find out what ideas anyone might have about what it could've been. Not exactly contacting the national enquirer to get them to post my amazing story. Just wondered if any others on here had any similar experiences, and, if so, what went down in their scenario. Not looking for people to come with the smart-ass "bigfoot" crap. Sorry if it came across as a claim, but if i had to make a guess, that would be it. That's all i'm saying- and no, i'm not 12 BMF- just tired of stepping in crap like you...

might as well get used to that sh@t on this site!
By the way, they been killing monsters in Okolona and spreading into other various areas of the state, go see on the Deer forums. The titles are everywhere -- "Monster killed in Okolona" , "Monster killed in whatever area" - personally theses monsters, in my opinion, must be described at Yeti's and maybe you did see bigfoot my friend!

I don't mean to sound like a know it all and I am sure I am going to get some comments towards me. But, there has never been any real record of a black panther in Mississippi( except the one's with guns who wanted to free Huey) Most panthers are like a golden color and people do see those but a black has never been recorded. 70 sprig i would love to see the pictures if you could post them. I could very well be wrong I am just going on what I have read and been told. I thought I saw one a few years ago on my deer hunting land cross a powerline and that is when I researched it and found those conclusions.[/i]
