I'm looking at buying a used one of either. I need something that will go through flooded fields with decoys, hunters, ect. and not bog down. What is the general concensus and experience with these 2 machines. Pros and cons would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've had a Mule for the past three seasons.

I wouldn't buy either brand you're looking at. Far and away the best choice for serious duck hunters in sloppy terrain is the Polaris Ranger.

Had a mule; it (mine) did not like the water. Needed repairs all 4 seasons I owned it including 2 broken front axles. Traded for Polaris Ranger and it has done fine so far. Don't know about the Rhino; was in one this past week but not in water. It rides great.

I'd go with the Rhino, we put ours through some nasty stuff at work and it does good. We had a mule a few years back and like Cotten said it doesn't like water. I like the Ranger's but they're so big it's hard to navigate tight turns in the woods and stuff.

Go take both for a test ride. For me, the Rhino is better, just cause the Ranger is not comfortable. It feels like I have to twist my foot to hit the gas. I don't know if the pedals are adjustable or not. If they are, then maybe the ranger would get the edge because of the bench seat (3 people). I went to Marengo swamp ride this past June on a Rhino and it did great in the mud.

there is no comparison in the 2 the mule is ok for easy terrain on the farm but for hard core duck hunting and mud the rhino is the better choice of the 2 however the ranger xp is better than them both all around. the rhino is a bad boy though and is the most sporty but it wont carry what a ranger will carry

I've had this mule for about 5 or 6 years now, and it has been beat up pretty good. I love it, but I'll admit, it doesn't take kindly to the water. It will got anywhere I need it too but for deep mud and water I would look at the Polaris and Rhino like the other guys said, the rhino is just to small to me and doesn't have the room and capacity the other 2 have. And with 2 people in a rhino it feels like you're sitting on top of each other, but it rides and handles great. Just my 2.

I would go with a Ranger. The fact is more leg room and better in the mud. Rhino's are easy to flip over going up and down levy's and the mule's dont take water well and the ones I have been around have a very cold start. So if comfort is key Ranger all the way.

hey dr. b......take a good hard look at the ranger.....I was leaning towards the rhino when I was looking a few months ago.....ran across a ranger deal I couldn't pass up.....been very impressed with it......no problems in the worst mud in the delta thus far.....plenty of room for everything.....a member in our club bought a new one last month & he is very satisfied with his.......good luck

mules lack the power that a rhino has. They are also lighter. They do great in the real nasty rice field mud. Primos guys hated it when they were sponsored by kawasaki and the mules because they couldn't make it up steep hills.

Ranger XP, but if you have to have a Rhino or Mule buy the RHINO 10 times out of 10.

Got a Ranger myself and it is great. Throw everything in the back and go. Good on gas too it seems.
