id like to see the story on that and some pics. If a duck went in japan it was in a soup before it left.

Just got a call from a good friend who is eating dinner in Cleveland tonight with a guy that heads up the lease this bird was killed on.
Crazy funny story - if anyone wants to hear it...

Okay here’s the story I got just a little while ago.
First of all, the guy that killed the duck is a Topwater so beginners luck is real fellas!!!
Nothing against Topwaters – most all of us were topwaters at some point – with the exception of a few of the Duck Gods on here ;-)~~~
Anyway, back to the story... To honor the request not to mention any names I’ll refer to the duck killer as TW (TopWater)& the Guy that heads up the lease SB (StrawBoss).
TW kills this bullsprig on Jan 3rd or whatever. Calls SB & says “man I killed me a duck with stainless steel band on his leg” SB says “TW I don’t guess I’ve ever heard of a SS band” so TW goes on to read the inscription on the stainless steel band to the SB. Not sure what it said, but anyway they called the number & found out that the bird was banded in 2000 across the pond. That’s right across the big pond – Japan! Turns out that it was the FIRST EVER band from Japan to be recovered in North America (or first to be reported anyway) high high Wow factor right there – huh?
Anyway, word get out & the boys from Washington call ole TW up & begin to inquire about the bird.
Turns out they want the bird to study it & all that good stuff. They tell TW that once all the studies are complete they want to mount the duck & display it in the Smithsonian! Wow factor just spiked up BIG – huh? It gets better! Turns out ole TW has already breasted the duck & grilled it!!! WTF??? Yes – he told the Feds he’s already grilled the prize duck a few days prior to their phone call!
Is this wild or what?
