Ringnecks

Postby Drake2 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 2:01 pm

Group has been killing a lot of ringnecks this year. Are these diving ducks better to eat than mergansers and other divers?

the feet and the ribs are good. lightly sautee in a creamy berblanc sauce and enjoy.

Good in gumbo. We have always eaten whatever we shoot...so I've eaten shoveler too and it's not too bad.......but I don't shoot 'em anymore either. :P

Ha. Never eaten any mergansers. Never had any ringnecks either. Got a guy that hunts that takes anything we don't want. Eats shovelors, coots, ringnecks, mergansers, hell even ate a beaver that he shot thinking it was coming at him! Crazy guy! We have just been loaded down with them and with little mallard population, we get some good practice in taking them ringnecks!
