20 guage doesn't always kill a duck instantly and I don't like my kids trying to chase a crippled duck in waste deep water with a loaded gun, so what you saying is just let the cripples go.

Do yourself and your son a favor by shooting some type of Hevi-Shot. You can stay in the 2-3/4" shell but can shoot #6's. A LOT more pellets and plenty of knockdown. Will save you time and energy in the end.

That is exactly what I plan for them to shoot hevi shot 3in #6's.

For starters, how are they getting crippled?

Are they shooting at a duck that is out of range?

Are they taking bad shots?

How young is the youth too?

If out of range, teach them about range of the gun they are shooting and teach them to wait for the ducks to fly in closer before taking a shot. If taking bad shots, take them shooting skeet and let them learn to lead on a skeet instead of on a duck.

im pretty sure he never said nothing about his kid not being able to shoot one on the water..... i could be wrong and its not my fight but im pretty sure he didnt want his kid walkin in waist deep water without him with a loaded gun..... you know....... cause you can fall pretty easy, at least i do..... pretty sure he is just being a concerned parent..... give him a break!

There you go!

As for shooting cripples, ever wonder why is sometimes takes 2 or 3 shots (with steel) to finish them off? Broadside shots have limited success due to the wings protecting the body. Other than a head-shot, you keep a shootin' and the dollars keep ringing up. At least that's my $.02 :?: [/quote]
