Heading to Natchez Friday night and need a place to eat. I have been to the Tavern (I think that's the name of it. The one that is haunted and they found the girl in the fireplace) and love it. Trying to find some place comparable.

Yea, I've heard about that place and I also want to have lunch one day at the pink Aunt Jamama out on Hwy 61.

You are talking about Mamies out on 98 where you enter through her skirt. Great sandwichs and homeade desserts.

I would try Pearl Street Pasta over off Main Street, or the Magnolia Grill under the hill (get the "Catfish Bryers"). The restruant at Dunleith is killer, but expensive. The Pig Out Inn is one of the better BBQ joints in the state, it is down at the end of main street catty corned to "The Corner Bar."

I think they may be in the middle of moving Fat Mama's...saw something in the paper a couple weeks ago. Definitely worth trying if you can find it...great tamales but I preferred the Gringo Pie.

We ate at a restaurant that was on the grounds of one of the old mansions...I think it was called/referred to as 'The Castle'. It was actually the old carriage house for the mansion.

I've heard the Aunt Jemimahs (sp?) was good to...think it was located on the outskirts of town.

Pearl Street Pasta is excellent if you are looking for that type of food. There is a relatively new place called the Center City Grill, and have heard that it is good as well. If you are looking for fine dining, try the Castle at Dunleith Plantation. For lunch, there is a little place on 61 south called Mamie's Cupboard, a must if you are there for lunch.

How about West Bank Eatery, just across the river in Vidalia? Its just across the river bridge, take the first right, and its right on the river bank. Haven't been there in a while, but it sure was good food.

Aunt Jemimah=Mamies
Castle=Restruant at Dunlieth.
Fat Mamas is moving across the street next to the Wensel House, across from the old Depot.

Of all the places mentioned, no one mentioned "Biscuits and Blues". Excellent catfish trosclair (fried catfish filet on a bed of jalapeno cheese grits).

"Biscuits and Blues" would be my first choice, then Pearl Street Pasta or Pig Out Inn. I have plenty of family there if you want a real home cooked meal. :lol: :lol:

A couple of us got profoundly ill after eating there a couple years ago. It may not have been the restruant's fault, but I cannot walk by it without turning green..... :oops:
