dukhunter I have one. I bought it off the classifieds on here a couple years ago. Its an 870 with the cantilever scope mount and has a fully rifled barrel. First year I didn't hunt with it much cause I wasn't satified with the groups I was getting out of remington buckhammers. That summer I bought about 6 or 7 different types of shells and found one that shot really well. It was 300 grain Hornady SST's. I believe I had 1.5" groups at a 100 yards. All the other shells I shot were given 3-4 inch groups with some flyers. I haven't shot it past 100 yards cause I just use it as my woods gun but it will slap put them down. I killed the buck below with it, he ran bout 60 yards with a good blood trail the whole way.

I forgot to add those Hornady SST's are 2 3/4 inch shells. You dont need 3" shells and kill your shoulder no more than it is already going to kick. My gun is topped off with a 3x9x40 Nikon Monarch.

One more thought I forgot to add. I got a trigger job done on my 870, made a heck of a difference. That cost me bout $40.00 but I shoot an 870 for my turkey gun also so I just switch the triggers for each season.

You also might want to look at the H&R ultra slug gun in 20ga. A friend of mine has one and if a deer is 150yd or less he can kill it with out a problem. He shoots the Federal Premium with the barnes bullet and it will shoot one inch groups at 100yds.
