inland marine insurance..............so, no.

when you hunt w/ someone (not mentioning names, doubleR) that'll chunk your camera in the drink, you gotta have insurance.

you definitely have to be careful, but I've got a good neck strap. :)

If I wore one on a neck strap it would almost guarantee that it got soaked

I got a Pentax Optio WP a couple of years ago and it has worked very well in duck hunting situations. The "WP" stands for "waterproof" and the camera has been, so far.

What does one of those go for?? I would really like to take pics while hunting but I'm afraid to take the camera with me.

You can get a good waterproof digital for something between $200 and $300. The memories you make with it are worth alot more than the cost of the camera. No reason to be scared to take a camera duck hunting. I've been doing it for 30 years. You just have to take care of it.

my setup for timber is:

dry storage bag, in goes camera and lenses, which are cushioned by camo shirts......roll up for waterrproofing and clip tight.

when i get where i'm going, unroll and take out camo shirts, clip bag onto tree and cover w/ teh camo shirts.

for pits, camera/lenses in blind bag and roll out.

I don't even take a cell phone with me for fear of getting it wet.

Obviously, has a lot to do with the environment. Whenever there is a "boat" involved, something or someone is going to get wet. A "dry bag" for camera, lenses, etc. is a good deal to say the least.

I use a boat on most of my hunts. I have found that a plastic "dry box" is the best way to keep water off my stuff. Before getting the waterproof digital, I used a Canon AE-1 for probably 15 years and never had a problem on the hundreds of hunts that it went with me. Since it wasn't waterproof, I had to be a little more careful, but no big deal.

Us poboys use (new)ziplock bags for cell phone and camera. Got little wrist laynards /loops once you take'em out so as not to drop; works for me. Cell pnones work well in de Delta so always in the pocket under the waders in the "off" position for emergency. Laynard deal wade or boat fishing...more to provent droppin overboard than getting wet.

Never understood why cell phones can't be made waterproof without great expense...

Heard mine one nite tumbling in the drier! It had been thru the wash cycle. It lasted 3 more months before it crashed. It was in the "off" position but no bag. When I went in to change the guy ahead had dropped his in the comode and the guy behind had dropped his in his tea.

It was one of the old Nokias. Still using one like it. Heard they were free at CellularSouth for awhile time to upgrade to a camera one maybe...
