wrong kinda news for this week....

Yesterday I got a call from Janet K. Her dog wags had blown a knee last year, and just spent months in rehab over it. Worried about his other knee last week, a mutal friend had alerted me he was going to get checked (dr dave). Never hearing back, i called and left a msg for janet about wags. She called me next day and left a msg he was going to be fine, no worries just pushed him in prep for the grand this week. Everyone so busy getting ready, msgs & emails & texts seem to be as close to conversation as anyone has had lately. Yesterday I got a call midafternoon from janet. Werid time of day for her to call me, so I excused myself from the conversation I was in, and took the call. She asked if me and rowdy where ready to kill it, and I said yes. Then she cried as she said she'd be watching from home. Wags blew his other knee out, and very well may be thru for good.
Everyone knows what a big deal the grand is. Even people not in hrc. But Janet its even more. Shes one gal, with one dog, and she keeps playing (and working) grands year after year. Its the grand that brought her (and dozens of other wonderful people) into my life, and shes as aware of that as I am. Theres 2 people on this earth I think love the grand more than me. Ones Ernie Ister, and the other is Janet. Its not just a week long national event. Its what we do, and who we are.
Janet is spending a couple days with her daughter before she gets home, or even probably sees this. Its bad right now. It will be worst Saturday morning. If you never been in 3/4's of a mile long convoy of dog trucks on saturday morning starting the grand, you can't imagine what it is to be missing it. Last fall, because of health I couldn't go, neither could she. I was at southern flight, running dogs, with my friends, and wathcing a very important person and dog to me hit 1000 points, and got to see 150 people cheering for kids running dogs. And I still was hurting for what I was missing. I called her right there, from sat night at southern flight. Cause I knew if I was having that much fun, and being sad at the same time, it had to be awful to be at home. Guess my point of all this is, to let concearned people know, and to tell ya to be thinking about her saturday morning, cause thats when it'll be the worst. It'll take a big part of my grand away, but nothing like it will cause to her. travis
