I have a chance to get a 6.5 hp mudbuddy at a helluva price. I've got an old wore out flatbottom boat and I'm wondering if this motor would push it. Now I'm not expecting it to push me very fast, I just want to know if it would do enough to get me up and down a few sloughs and maybe some of these small rivers around here? Anybody got any experience with these small motors?

As long as you are not talking about an 18 foot boat, that mudbuddy will do fine.

Good luck.

I have 9 HP g/d on a 16X48 it goes about 11MPH empty and 8MPH loaded. It does fine. At 4:30 in the dark how fast do really want to go? I have a friend with a new 29HP mudbuddy on a 17X54 and it only runs 16MHP. A mud motor is about getting there not the speed. HP to weight is the Key. MY.02.

I don't konw what conditions you are gonna use it in but where I use mine you need a little power for more things than just speed. Wait till you get into some low water or heavy vegetation.....
