do kids need to have hunters ed before this weekend youth hunt
i got one 11 yr old.............and one 13 yr old and a 16 yr old
....i'm sure the 11 yr old does not but what about the 13 yr old.....

This is my understanding and I'm quite sure I'm right.
If the child is not old enough to require a license they are also not required to have hunters safety unless you are hunting on a WMA and all children are required to have hunters safety while hunting them.

The 16yr old is required to have all.

Youth eligible to participate in this special hunt are those fifteen (15) years of age and younger. Each youth must be in the immediate vicinity and under the direct supervision of an adult twenty one (21) years of age or older.

This is how the law reads:

SEC. 49-7-20.1. Child hunter safety; hunter education course; adult supervision.

(1) To reduce hunting accidents of children under license age, to protect the safety of these children and to promote hunter safety, a child at least twelve (12) years of age and under sixteen (16) years of age must have a certificate of satisfactory completion of a hunter education course approved by the department before hunting in this state.

(2) A child under the age of twelve (12) must be in the presence and under the direct supervision of a licensed or exempt hunter at least twenty-one (21) years of age when the child is hunting.

(3) There is no penalty for a violation of this section, but to protect the safety of the child a conservation officer may require the child to end the hunt and may unload the firearm and may take the firearm and the child to an adult.
