Insurance Job on MS Gulf Coast

Postby DUCK-HUNT » Thu Jul 10, 2008 9:40 am

Got a buddy who is looking to get into insurance business and has got offered a job with a reputable insurance company on the MS gulf coast and was wondering what the business was doing down there. Should he jump on the opportunity or take a closer look. Comes with a good book of business.

You asked for an opinion, not me. You say he is selling insurance on the coast. So, What if my friend is selling cars. Pretty general statement. If he is selling diesel trucks right now he isn't keeping the lights on. Honda's and Kia's? Maybe? Same with Insurance. Only a few companies write on the coast. Assuming it is homeowner's, he might do great. It is required by mortgage comoany to have regular HO insurance along with with, offered by the MWUA, because it is specifically excluded in a standard HO policy. It is not cheap. Huge premiums and you have to have it.

So there you have it. A general statement. If you want to PM the specifics, then do, if not, dont ask a general statement and expect a pretty rational answer.

Now the burden is on him. Can he sell? Does he know anything about dealing with people on the MS Gulf Coast about insurance? Believe me, if he doesn't he is in for a shock. He will get cussed, daily, I know. I have been there, just as an inspector. 90% chance I know the company and producing agent he is talking to. I know the job and have a friend working there. I am not wanting to take his job. Already doing fairly well here. But if you really want to ask an opinion.....need some details there bud.

Just tell him to bribe some people, seems to be pretty popular along the coast.
Why is my mouth so dry this morning, when I drank so much last night?

TAKE MY ADVCE....soft insurance market (which we are in) makes for tough time to start insurance career, at least on the sales side!
