The South Panola Tigers will be hosting Apopka, Fla tonight on ESPNU at 7 PM tonight. The #1 team in MS will take on the #1 team in Florida. It should be a great game. SP will be putting its 78 game winning streak on the line against a nationally ranked team. I hope all of MS will support our boys tonight, as football is one of the few things MS does not rank last in the nation.

In case anybody is wondering, the last team to beat South Panola was.................................................................................. WAYNE COUNTY!
Suspiciously, the next year we were moved down to 4A so that we wouldn't be able to play 5A teams again in the playoffs. Coincidence? I'm just sayin'!

I thought the classification wasbased upon the number of students enrolled. There has to be proof of a decline in enrollment to drop. I don't think it was suspicion because if anybody called foul, the numbers would have to show.

SP is actually better than they were last year. Coach Pogue is actually a throwing coach. He did well throwing it at
Eupora in the past. He is a excellent coach of the game.

They look good! What's weird is that I am 36 and a couple of their stars, Pound Lampley and the McDougle boy are sons of guys I played with. I can actually remember them getting their girlfriends pregnant our senior year and the year or so after.
Pound Lampley's dad was about 145 lbs and would light you up! McDougle's great grandmother lived next door to me growing up and practically raised me. First place I ever witnessed hog head cheese being made. Yuck!

SP is rebuilding the O-Line, as it was the workhorse for sure last year, but they are coming along good. We have depth in the backfield. We have some young talent coming up for sure. Definitely something to look forward to. We could easily go undefeated again this year, but one bad game does not kill a season. Another state championship is not out of the question.
