Re: Congrats Duck Chaser
proud of the red dog and I guess the handler too. Would like to have been there for sure......not only to see them getting the work done, but to see Steve actually blow a whistle and use a handle in the first series......I think I would have passed out!

Re: Congrats Duck Chaser
ol skuna (aka slap-a-fowl) hatin on my handling skilz...
Theres no doubt been a few runs I've just stood there and let ol Rusty get into trouble. but, handling is easier said than done, when its rare you have to.., or you never needed to before. I told Benjy that Rusty's hunt on a memory bird in the first was getting wide towards the flyer, he might have worked it out, but I wasn't going down like that. So he is really proud.. hehe
We both ran this HT a year ago. I double staked master/senior, which would have finished our SH. So we get to senior, double thrown, go-bird splats in mud, send.. He hunted, and hunted, and hunted.. couldn't come up with it and finally headed for the memory bird, which I just sat there and let him do! Judges said "why'd you let him do that, you fail for a switch". I said - he was all over it for 5 minutes, don't know why he'd find it if I cast him back in there.., figured we would just try it again from here...
I guess it doesn't say much for a handler when you bring home a master ribbon and fail a senior the same weekend.
Bill, thanks for making me feel that my opinion of him is not totally subjective. THANKS for all the comments. They mean alot. LDH, thanks to you and Dave for a jam-up dog and all the help and advice. I'm just as glad for all the friends made along the way, as I am of any title. If you see somebody take their first HT dog to HRCH/MH, you can bet on 2 things 1) they have learned a LOT the hard way, 2) that no matter how hard they train, how good, what program etc., that they have had some good advice and help along the way, and I appreciate every bit of it.
I expect this to be our last "congrats" thread, so I may not be milking this deal enough..
It is a new photo op, so here he is in all his MH glory.. (or just what he looked like last week when you chunked a bumper, plus 1 more ribbon)
