Postby Bglenut » Mon Nov 03, 2008 10:45 am

I am in the market for a New Scope.

I have the Remington XCR Stainless/Camo Rocky Mountain Edition 300 WSM.

I am looking for a scope. Mainly Deer hunting hee in MS. Need something for the Powerlines and long shooting lanes we have at the camp.

Price range is $1 to maybe $1000

What would you put on this gun?

Thanks,

I have been please with the Nikons for the money. I might go with a 50 mm with the BDC reticule. You can probably get one for about 500.00

I had a Zeiss and I was not overly impressed with the scope. At least not for the price.. I will say the Zeiss binocs I have are great. But I didn't like the scope.

I have the same rifle minus the camo stock, and it is topped with a 4-12x50 swarovski. It is a nice combo. Burris would be another good choice as well.

Go with the swarovski z6 or nightforce.

I have the exact gun except it's a 300 Ultra Mag and I have a Meopta 3.5x12x56 and love it. You can find them online for $500-600 with the quality of a Zeiss or Burris.

Does the RMEF come in a .300 WSM? I thought it was only in the Ultra mag.

I recommend the Ziess 3.5x10x 50mm. I have one one my Tikka T3 and really like it. Should be able to get one well under $1000.

It's got a real good recoil pad on it.....so honestly it doesn't kick any more than my 7mag. I love the way it shoots......according to the ballistics.....you can't get much flatter with a caliber that large. I got it a year to a year and a half ago and haven't had a deer take another step........I shot a doe at 150-160 yards last year in alabama and she literally turned 270 degrees....she went down so fast I thought I missed. I love mine.....the Remington Sirocco shells for it aren't cheap though.

The recoil on my 300wsm is pretty sharp but not terrible. They put limbsaver recoil pads on the xcr's. They are very nice no doubt. I miss the 7mm RUM I had. Should have never gotten rid of it. :x
