Answer this honestly............

Postby Bigpoppa » Wed Nov 05, 2008 6:59 pm

I started thinking about this while reading another post. Have any of you ever heard anything that remotely resembles the new craze of the "snort weeze" call???? I notice everyone on the hunting shows doin it and I think it is slam retarded!!!!! i have never heard anything that even remotely resembles anything like that come out of a deer. Dumbest thing ever, except they are making a killing off selling em. Tell me none of you snort weeze!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!

Don't knock it till you try it! I've used it but with very sporatic results! They either come on in or run like hell! You will seldom hear it unless you are right on top of a fight. It's usually the last thing they do before locking up!

I have heard it once about 2 years ago. I have used it on bucks in the thick stuff when they were scent checking fields and it definetly will get their attention and even bring them in for a closer look some of the time. I used it on a very good ten point last year and came in bow range but never offered a shot. He came to the food plot looking for the deer that made it all bowed up and ready to kick some butt. I guess I should have had a decoy.

I have actually heard it one time before.... last year heard it just before a really nice buck chased a doe right up under my stand on the opening day of muzzleloader season. I think that it is one of those sounds that you have heard before but have just dismissed or did not pay attention to, but once you have seen and heard it on TV lately I bet you will hear it and recognize it. I have used the call, but never had it work.........so.........not sure what the situation needs to be to use it.

Used it in kansas a couple years back every deer I did it to walked under my tree. I have used here in Mo twice and both times the deer ran like crazy. Heard it once for myself about 6 years ago while watching two bucks chase a doe, but that was before i knew what the crap it was.

Honestly....I have heard it one time 4 years ago....was hunting over a scrape line and was using "the can" and grunting......right at dark I had a deer come in on me and couldn't get a shot off on him....he was bowed up and ears back looking for "the buck"......I grunted soft one short time and he snort and wheezed at me...scared the hell out of me...of course I had neve heard anything like that before....heard it once and haven't heard it since then.....may not hear it again the rest of my life...

I used it in Illinois. I was hunting a CRP field and saw a giant about 75 yards away and I was throwing everything at him and he came into the snort wheeze. Needless to say I missed.

Definately didnt hear it! Doesnt help that i am bout half deaf! I have killed numerous turkeys and my ears do not pick up a drumming noise. Something about certain pitches I cannot hear due to my damaged hearing. Maybe thats the case with the snort weeze......................Wait just a dang minute , yall aint turnin me on this deal!!!!! Its all a HOAX! A dargon HOAX! :? :? :? :?

I honsetly have never heard the "buck roar" or the estrus call of the "can" while I was hunting. I am somewhat concerned if is an actual action of a whitetail.

Hear is the dilema, I have never seen deer, squirrels, duck, or any other animal (with the exception of a couple box turtles) getting their groove on in the wild, but I know it happens.

Keep coming with the post of real experiences and it may shed some light on the issue.

i've heard it several times, there again, I was also hunting places that were managed well..... it all depends on the situation..... with proper management, those situations come to fruition more than places that aren't managed properly..... along with this thread, i have heard bucks chasing does do the snort weeze/bawl (growl)/ grunt/blow/etc. etc. etc..... it's all a product of time and place those are all common deer vocalizations, the bawl/growl is actually pretty common with even adolescent bucks.. The doe was blowing/bleating back at the bucks that were chasing her (yes, bucks plural).
Sun rise in the east.... and it sets up in the West, yes the sun rise in east baby, and it sets up in the west..... It's hard to tell, hard to tell, hard to tell, which one, which one I love best.....
