wader help!!!

Postby ScottyLee » Sun Nov 30, 2008 12:13 pm

alright fella's,

Went on my first actual duck hunt opening morning, (jump shoot woodies alot but never done the real thing before) come to find out my waders have a small pin hole some where near the seam of the neoprene and the boot, ( i didn't even know i had a hole till i took them off). How do you fix this? buying a new pair isn't really an option.

Whats your thoughts? never done this before

Waders should have come with a patch kit. That would be the pieces of neo, glue tube, and cover strip in the plastic bag with directions that you threw away! Borrow patch kit from buddy. The connection between the boot and neo may be difficult. I had a dry rot hole in my boot and just used the glue on the outside. It has worked so far.

They make some sort of wader repair stuff. No patch, just spread some on there and let it dry really well. Maybe some RTV would be cheaper. My buddy used the wader repair on his and lasted for quite a while with a small tear, but yours would be an easier fix. Good Luck.

In a dark room stick a flashlight down in them and look for the light.........Also, gasket sealer works excellent on boot repairs.

i don't have a patch kit, i found the waders in a closet at the fraternity house, a year or so ago... i'm gonna give the shoe goo a try i guess.

Open for more suggestions, keep them coming!!!

shoe goo works great. Punched a hole stepping on a stick last year one morning. Did a combo of the patch kit inside with shoe goo on the outside and have never had a problem with them again.

If you have a scuba shop near you, they have some cement they use for wetsuit repairs (forget what they call it) that will seal it like new. Shoe Goo and a hair dryer will work well, too.

The same thing happened to my old waders (around the top of the boot) becase they stay rolled down all the time- prolly dry rot- but you can use put a solid bead of aqua seal -or shoe goo or watever- around the top of the boot on the inside and it should fix em without having to find the hole. If dry rot is the case them doing the same thing to the other boot might not be a bad idea.
