We've done better, we've done worse. Cloudy weather really prevented us from being able to put up some big numbers.
72 ducks (40 mallards) and 6 geese

2 man limit on Friday, mostly Green, and in time to pickup and get to camp for the kick off of the Egg Bowl
Saturday was a bit slower, we got 10, w/3 of them Woodies, 5 Gadwalls, and 2 Mallards.
Overall a pretty solid start for my season.

Pretty good opener, three man limit on Saturday morning by 8:00 with a nice mixed bag of mallards, gads, wedgion, and woodies. And four of us on Sunday killed 12 mallards and gadwall. It was a little strange because another group hunted Thursday and Friday and only killed one each morning, I couldn't get to the camp until Friday afternoon and the birds seemed to showed up Sat and Sunday morning.

killed 17 ducks and 1 goose - mixed bag(1 green head, lots of teal, 5 divers, 1 spec) - over all, not bad for a long weekend. Had a great weekend with my son.

Did you see plenty of ducks but just couldn't get the in the timber or what? Heard there were lots of birds up your way.

Yeah, we were holding a good number of birds on our field, but they never act right in the clouds. They'll work you, but don't like to finish. I always heard you wanted a nasty, cloudy, rainy day in the field but don't believe it. Give me sun and a little wind and I'll give you ducks.

It's funny you say that. I hunt SE AR and had the same issue Friday in the fields. Lot's of birds but they were spooky like late season birds. Buddy who has been hunting much longer than I said it was because it was so cloudy and had no water glare so the ducks could see movement. Not sure if I buy that seeing how we were in a roll top pit. We did move to the timber at 10 and the ducks had no problem committing then. I always heard the same thing "Cludy fields, sunny timber" but I think it is be where they want to be deals

Five men, two youths shot 96 over four day weekend. Mainly Gadwalls and Mallards with a couple of woodies and ring necks. Good start for our club.

to contribute to the hijacking....to heck with a cloudy day hunting in the pit.....they can see right in those big holes without the shadows.... I'd rather hunt timber in the clouds personally..... high bluebird days in the fields with a good wind are ideal IMO....
hunted Friday morning by myself in MS....5 ducks on public land before 8...then I had to go shopping with my wife
pretty good opener, but I hear I missed a pretty good shoot just down the road on Saturday too.....

Sat was kind of slow for us. 4 people and only 8 birds bu one was a pintail and that was a first for me.
Sunday was terribly slow. 5 people hunting and only 2 birds. That's hunting I guess.
Monday was good. 2 of us hunting and each of us one shy of a limit. Got woodies, mallards, ring neck, gadwall, and a green wing teal. Saw lots of birds though.

0- no water - for the first time since we've had it, we don't have water for opener - we're usually the only ones WITH water for opener.
