Woke up at 9am this morning...... I work 12 hour shifts so I didn't go to bed till 3 this morning..... Anyway, 6 hours later I felt like I was dying! Pinpointed the spot and seen our rig medic, they put me in an iv drip and gave me some pain medicine..... Took the hour helicopter ride to land from the big blue water only to learn I have 2 kidney stones! Thought I was good to go, decided to walk half a mile to academy to stay out of traffic..... got in there looking around and it hit me again...... that was a long, painful walk back to the hotel! I'm only 22 I'm not suppose to be falling apart yet! Y'all pray for me!

My daughter started having them at 14. My secretary's husband averages one about every 3 weeks, tried every cure out there. It's pure misery.
Someone told me Vitamin B6 was good for preventing pee rocks.

also coffee.
one thing, try and keep one and have it tested. This way they know what it's made out of and try to pinpoint what in your diet is causing it.

I am 45 and thankfully have never had to experience anything like that. I am knocking on my wooden desk as we speak!

I have heard cokes/sodas, tea, and coffee will cause these things, but I have never had them. I no longer drink soda's much (only when they come with the meal deal), but I drink coffee daily, and lots of it, and I drink unsweet tea. I do drink lots of water though.
I really do not think that the medical field knows what causes them.

Hot baths, drugs and alcohol. Anyone who says dont mix pain killers and alcohol, doesn't have kidney stones.
Everyone make stones for different reasons. No matter the cause hydration is the best preveative (water and lots of it).
Anyone who makes stones on a regular basis, needs a nephorolgist. A kidney disease doctor. Mine changed my life. Uroligists are surgeons... they pratice medicine as a convience to their patients only. Anyone with frequent stones needs more help than a surgeon can provide.
Big boy I had last year was 15 x 22 mm. If you look at the defintion of the phrase 'no fun', it shows a 15 mm stone! hehe. travis

New info out in the medical world relates kideny stones to chronic kidney disease (read: potential dialysis). Make sure if you have any other kidney problems (diabetes or high blood pressure or vascular disease) you really watch yourself. Dialysis isn't really living it is just slow dying.
