I used a mixture....seeing that ducks come in all sizes I just think it looks more natural...Thats My thoughts.......

it doesnt matter...
we probably over-analyze every detail about what we do hunting ducks.
how many times do you hear, "IF ONLY..." had a different reed in my call, a different brand choke, a different shot size, them newbie waders, the other color lab, the new camo pattern, a lighter boat, more aggressive tires on my 4-wheeler, bigger truck, that duck lease over there, more luvin' from my wife,.... I could kill more ducks.
Heck, leave it all at home. Buy a good cheap cigar, find a couple of good buddies.... and scratch and spit and fart and laugh and enjoy what God put on this earth for us. Not that you can't do it with the other stuff.... yep you can.... sometimes it just gets in the way. (in my totally useless and unsolicited humble opinion...)

I agree with Broker. In school I used to have a dozen dekes and an old 870. Now I and my huntin' partner look like a traveling band of gypsies going to the duck hole. We go with so much crap it sometimes takes two trips 'cause I can't get it all on the 4 wheeler.
I'll go by myself a few times a season and only take 1 dozen dekes to a small hole on the back side of nowhere. I still have just as much fun.

I have a $500 boat, a $200 motor, 2 dozen wall-mart dekes and a 870. And I had a blast last year(my 1st year duck hunting).
Hey Broker...I'm about 30 miles south of you in Potts Camp.

I've never really had any problems mixing different sized decoys. Like the other post said, it really looks more natural. One piece of advice I can give that I think most would agree with is that when you buy new decoys and plan to use them with your old ones...clean up and your old dekes and put a little touch up paint on them so they all match a little better.

more impotant..........sam says
BE WHERE THE DUCKS WANT TO BE....
If your are there....then u can have big...little or none decoys...
1.......take the time to really scout the early season...
2.......with the knowledge that as the season changes so do the ducks....ie
food source....water level....weather...pressure...
3.......have more than one "hole" to hunt....if ducks are there...
don't shoot them out...
4.......It's more fun to watch Sam all season picking up duck.....
than for a day or one weekend.............
no as to duck hunting........................imo size does not matter.....
