Dove season-another week for late season?

Upon reading the CL today, I saw the proposed opener for first season. Either Labor Day, or the 6th. Personally, Labor Day has always meant dove hunting to me, but I do see the view that starting on Monday will knock out a weekend of hunting at the front.
On the other hand, waiting till the 6th apparently means we could get that extra week somewhere else in the year. Is this correct? I've always wanted another week or so to hunt the 3rd season, when the birds are fat and juicy and the weather is bbbbbbbeautiful.
What do y'all think? Start on Labor Day or wait till the following Saturday?

I'm all for Labor Day. It's kind of a tradition with us.

I agree with Rick Cleveland, open the season on Monday Sept. 1. This would at least give the ones who want to hunt on labor day the opportunity to do so. If you don't want to hunt on Monday you don't have to, but at least we would have a choice.

Yea, Cleveland put his 2 cents worth in, which was a TOTAL waste of paper space, in my opinion. He should have his views, but there is no way in hell that the Commissioners in DWF&P are gonna change the way they have handled this problem the last 2 times it's come up. If they do, I will be the first to eat my words. But as politics goes, 'stay the course' is the way most things are handled. Besides, few hunters will want to just hunt 1 day, and that being a holiday to boot. They should be wanting to spend that day grilling or something else w/ the family besides hunting. An exta week later on will be real nice. Just my 2%.

I agree; If I could vote it would be the 6th so I have the entire weekend.

I WANT BOTH...A LABOR DAY OPENING AND AN EXTRA WEEK...
How is this possible? Do the smart think like LOUISIANA does and go with the 70 day/12 bird season instead of the 60 day/15 bird season...This would be the perfect year to try it out...

my sunflowers are starting to head and should be ready for the early or late opener....i know Wingmans are a little late and a later season would be good for him as an opener... i will take what ever they deal out and make a fun event out of it.... i have apprx. 10 acres of wheat that i let mature and have been bush-hogging strips and discing fresh dirt... looks like argentina or mexico at this time..... lots of nesting birds and plan to keep them fat and healthy until sept..... my birthday is the 2nd of sept. and my favorite present is a weekend smelling gun powder......haha......
