Y'all, i'm in the market for a lab puppy, either a yellow or black female. I've had a black female before and we've got a choc. now, but never really trained them for hunting, just more or less as a family pet. My question is can anyone give me any pointers on the training and does anybody recommend any good kennels in our area for hunting dogs. It's going to be strictly hunting, i have no intentions of entering trials or anything of that nature, just hunting. thanks

No doubt the hottest litter of yellow puppies I've seen in a long time is Scott Greer's (731)287-8208 Liza bred with jamie... A grand hunting retreiver champion (who is my dog's half sister) bitch X FC AFC teddy's ebonstar james stud. After being around several jamie puppies, I want one, and with liza on the bottom half it makes it all the better. Don't know what he's got them priced, but I can't think of a better yellow breeding, personally. A friend of mine in texas who is a dog breeder also has bred to jamie several times, with wonderful results I might add.

Another friend of mine local has a black male and a choc male from an aswesome breeding. HRCH MH bitch X Smoke on the water (little man).

As far as tips on training, at this point, I'd say by the best dog you can. There is a tremendous difference between dogs that are field bred players, and dogs that are simply the result of 2 people letting their dogs 'hook up'. The difference in genetic talent, drive, and intelligence is amazing. Its much easier to end with something when you started with something.

Join a local retreiver club. Yeah yeah, you only want a hunting dog. We all started like that. Even if you only want a hunting dog, you are still going to need help on your journey. travis

Pay attention to Goosebruce sometimes he is full of it but this time he is right on. You want help without a lot of expense get with a training group.
