"Dawg talk in Dixie" -- Week One

Topic: Will "The Jackal" survive the season, or is it back to the used car lot? What effect will the loming sanctions have on Jackie's ability to survive the year, or will it just come down to wins and losses? And if Jackie goes, will he take his clown collection with him, donate it to MSU, or give it to Lee Corso?
My take: I think he survives this season regardless of any sanctions or mounting losses. But, I think this year is his swan song ---he will not be back for year 14. And Corso, the butt kisser, gets his clown collection ---why? he is a clown.

If he wins 7 he stays, if he wins anyless he goes. Sanctions are not an issue (I hope).

Jeeesh. Jackie has been leaving for the past 12 years. You guys find something new. Like a mascot that doesn't offend anyone. Might wanna change the nickname too.. How about the

OLE MISS APPEASERS.

What about the Mississippi Homeboys? UM could have an African-American mascot with corn rows and baggy pants, instead of a cane, he could carry a 40 oz.

I have to agree with Ole Buff's statement about Corso...he is a clown. I still resent his comment about the Rebels when we played Tenn before we went to the Gator Bowl in the late 80's. Ate his own little clown words right after the game.

Don't you just love the spin Boone and Khayat are putting on it- "the old southern gentleman just isn't very athletic" HA!
Do they think a cornhusker is athletic? or for that matter a Volunteer, a crimson tide, a Hokie, or an Aggie??

I see this has turned into another Col. Reb thread. Guys, good luck getting things stirred up about "The Jackal". If I were you, I would be wanting to know when Kyaht and Boone are going to leave. Mark my word, the name Ole Miss will be next to go at U of M, because it may remind people of the Old South and it doesn't sound athletic. As for JWS, I hope he stays another 13 years. Good luck on the yankee mascot search. I can't wait to see the $30,000 end result.

Don,
I agree with you except for one point. You have the order mixed up. The next thing to go will be "Rebels"... it certainly won't fit with the new Yankee mascot. Then, as you said, "Ole Miss" will go. At that point I'm sure this Yankee research group will tell us and our kids, that this whole "OLE MISS thing" is just another piece of history we should be ashamed of.
I left Oxford for Starkville when college time came around, and I thought this mascot thing was funny when it started. But, now... It's just silly.. and a real shame. I've been teaching my kids how to make faces when a "rebel" fan mentions their team. I don't know if I'll bother with the rivalry as much now.
Soon enough, a group from New York is gonna make "REBELS" out of us Bulldawgs too. You guys will always be "Icky stinky Rebels" to me.

Change the mascot to Colonel Sanders and serve buckets of chicken instead of pizza at the games, then everyone will be happy.

Duckslayer, that is where I am drawing the line ---when they take away our kaki pants and polo shirts, I will revolt

----- really, what would I wear to the game?
And you MSU folks and others that are just hell bent on discussing sports, and particularly MSU v Ole Miss type banter on this duck/hunting board, I have many, many more topic threads to start each week for the rest of the summer ----the MSU follies are providing the material and it is endless.
(there should be even more new topics arriving before the end of July

).
Always remember: He who laughs last, laughs the hardest.
I will stop when you guys do. I come to this board to get away from the other crap going on in the world, including sports, to focus on my real passion --the ducks. Wish some of you would take the hint. It could be a LONG hot, dreary, anguishing summer.

Don, sorry to disappoint, but I have no intention of continuing the weekly "Dawg Talk in Dixie" thread ---it was just joke to prove a point. I have too many Dog friends to continue such ----- they would not take the posts as intended and would most likely be offended. It is going to get a little hot in Starkvegas this summer and fall ---- I think I'll sit this one out and mind my own business.
With regard to the Col. Reb mascot issue, I am not upset about UM's decision in this regard and really do not care if you guys want to talk about it all summer ----not sure the topic is really that exciting anyway. Although I must admit, reading posts by MSU alum and fans about this topic is rather irritating.
I was just (unsuccessfully) trying to use this topic as an example, and my MSU posts as an example, to make my case against all the MSU v UM type posts on the board, and to prevent this board from being taken over by these type posts this summer and beyond. So much for that goal.
I'll try really, really hard to ignore such posts from now on. I have voiced my concerns from the cheap seats. You guys have at it.

Truce O.B., I would hate for this to spill over into bad blood for next duck season! It's crowded enough, if you know what I mean. It the words of the esteemed Mr. Rodney King,"Can't We All Just Get Along?"
