Bigwater, the bluewings will be down before you know it. I can't wait eighter! The high water conditions may hurt us on most of the places I like to hunt. Usually I start scouting toward the end of August. I may have to get in a East Mississippi shoot with Brooks this season. He had the teal 2 years ago on high water conditions.

don u r right it won't be long before they will be here! and it certainly will be a high water year.. guess we won't need the go devil what a shame. is it possible that the high water conditions could cause fewer of the teal to stop in this neck of the woods. i sure hope we get a crack at a few of them

I don't know what part of the state yall are from but I know where I hunt on my farm in Itta Bena we don't get very many bluewings if ya could I'd like to know where yall hunt, but we do get several greenwings out at the farm but we mainly get woodies, greenheads, a few wiegons, and an abundant supply of hooded merganser.

I just hope the season is a little earlier this year than last. Maybe they will put back closer to the first of SEPT. than at the end.

Teal Season?

Anything to it? Do I need Teal dekes, or will standard Mallard dekes suffice?

I use hen mallard decoys and about 10 or 12 Canada goose floating decoys of to the side of my duck decoy spread. Teal are very curious birds and will decoy with or without teal decoys. No need to run out and buy teal decoys for teal season, mallard decoys work fine.

if you are in the right location{premier teal route} at the right time, they will decoy to a stick.....only trouble is that them little rocket jets can land and take off before this ole geezzer can get the safety off.......... my best fun has been at Scooters 400 mile hole in N.E. Ms.......been awhile, but i plan to return.......

I think you just made the understatement of the day. Those little suckers are lightning fast, but boy do they eat good. Teal hunting is incredible, cept for the mosquitos.

no better tablefare than teal in my opinion..... it is just hard to compromise a long trip and expense for a daily limit of 4 birds..... my experience has made me believe you either get a limit or you get nothing......teal are about half the size of woodies..... that ain't much meat for a fellow with my appitite.....hahaha.... i just wish that they would throw in one woodduck in that limit of 4...{ like my neighboring state of Tn.....} kinda take out that idea of harvesting a WRONG duck...... my eyes are weakening enough without having to see a patch of blue at 100 mph.......at daylight....... teal generally fly in groups of several, where woodies tend to fly in pairs or singles this early..... what the heck,,,, i'm ready to watch a few fly.........

I just started duck hunting last year and been reading, watching, and listening to every bit of knowledge about duck hunting. Now I've got to cram for a teal test!!!! Boy... this duck hunting is givin me one of those mybrain headaches. Go ahead, keep talking I'm taking notes!

Ripem, I feel pretty sure your first bluewing will be shot off the water. They do come in quick.
