Just want to see what sort of success everyone judged they had this season relative to the past 5 or 6 years- May be interesting if we put up a number on the 1-10 scale (10 the best) and what region you hunt (no specifics).

Me first- 7 South Miss Delta

teal staying around saved the season for us

7....just because of the last ten days, would have been a 3-4 if the season had ended January 14th. May still be an 8 or better if the kids could continue the success next weekend.

I give it a 5, Hunted mostly South Delta...I agree with outlaw josey wales, I wished they would move the week in Nov and the first week of Dec to the first two weeks of Feb. Or take Nov and Dec out all togather and put the whole month of Feb in the season.

9.5 the best season our camp has had ever.the only reason i did not give it a 10 is because we did not kill many mallards.alot of grey ducks and teal.

10! By far the best season I've ever had.

I started the year with a reward band on 12/2 and stomped the mallards from Christmas on (12 limits - all on public land). Finished yesterday with four greenheads and a teal.

I learned a lot about water levels with all the rain and found 5 or 6 new spots.

Best of all, I met some new guys and got to enjoy some very special hunts with old friends and my kids. My nine year old son became a duck caller this year. He called in a pair yesterday all by himself. They broke off from a group of seven and he got them all the way to the water at 20 yards with no decoys.

Screwed that up-redo
Upper delta(Desoto,Coahoma)-early 8,mid season 5,late 7
Mid delta(Bol,Washington,Sunflower,Tall) early 2,midseason 8, late 7 (specs were working)
Mid delta(Leflore) Only hunted late season 7

Did a lot of riding and scouting but had a great season- Fewer mallards than I have ever killed but killed more teal and gads than ever. Had large number of huntable specs that put the icing on the cake for the season. Looking forward to next year :D :D

All the differing perspectives are interesting.

Mid Delta 8.5-9 early and a 4-5 mid to late and a 7 late. Saw ducks all year long. Lots of mallards early, no teal ever, over run with nothing but pintails late. River was terrible. Fields that were good last year stunk. Ducks liked fields this year that I never hunted last year!?!?

Overall alot better than the worst I have seen ('01-'02), and not as good as the best ('00-'01).

I give Oklahoma a 3. Unlike in Mississippi where we bank on mixed bags of woodies, mallards, gaddies, teal & widgeon to hold us over until the mallards peak.80% of the birds we see and shoot in that part of the central flyway are mallards. If there aren't mallards, there isn't much else. That's a great problem to have when the birds are there. The mallards never made it in masses this year....very odd. I had more pintails all season than I knew what to do with...especially late.
