What would you do ?

If you had a litter of pups and the mother accidently injured one ? After all they are your responsibilty , you did the breeding . My wife raises Westies and Havanese ,,,i know they are not retrievers BUT she loves them unconditionally .

She had a litter of Havanese and one of the little females got stepped on by the mother who was excited to see my wife . She jumped and landed on one of the pups , and it pinched her spinal cord , which caused her very little use of her back leggs . The VET said to put her down , but my wife said she was her responsibilty . Maggie Moo is a happy , loving little girl , who loves to play with the other dogs and be held and yes go for WALKS all 2.8 lbs of her . I was just wondering what ya'll would have done (IF) you faced this with one of your litters .

Here is a pic of Maggie Moo :D

Oh i forgot to mention she does not know she is handycapped !

Honestly, you need to think about the future for the pup. Will she ever over come this or will it be permanent? I know she's a cute puppy and probably has no idea she's hurt but I think that few owners would take the time to visit the vet doe check ups on her. They would just assume have a pup with 4 working legs and leave the pet at home with no worries. Just my .02 cents

I would have done the same thing you did most likely, even tho I'm sure most people would not. If that pup is happy and not suffering then her life is worthwhile. About 2 yrs ago I had a pup that was so tiny and couldn't walk and seemed to be suffering. I started out the door more than once to put her down only to turn around. Something was holding me back. Eventually she was able to walk and tho she was extremely tiny I gave her to an avid duck and goose hunter who was an editor with a hunting mag. He drove all the way from the midwest to pick her up. She is happy and they love Ginger dearly. So you never know...I've seen other little dogs on wheels that seem to be otherwise healthy and happy.

Hey Alan,
Worst case scenario: If you and your wife decide to get rid of it or put it down then give me a call. I have about 3 women who would take it. If you don't have my number anymore, it is (662)769-0292.

Alan, that is wonderful to hear. I know that it is always nice to have a backup plan. I have already talked to my girlfriend's mom and she said that she would take it. She sure is cute though.

That's a tough one CC. I look up to you for being the responsible breeder. I wish everyone was. I know my wife and I would have done the same thing. I pray we don't have to make that decision.
