Well so much for the Uruguay trip. College costs way too much. I've decided to get a gun for graduation. My problem is that I can't decide what to get. I'm a huge fan of pistols but was thinking about an over and under shotgun. What makes and models do ya'll recommend for either? Thanks.

If you want a real nice gun to dove hunt and shoot clays with I would get a Beretta Silver Pigeon. If you want one to use for everything and duck hunt with the Beretta 686 I think is the number is a very nice shotgun too.

ruger red label is a good gun. depends on how much you want to spend. you can get a blaser, parrazi, or a stoeger, and that price range is $300-20,000. so, what are you looking to spend?

+1 to that. I want a Silver Pigeon III so bad I can't stand it!!! Maybe I'll be able to buy something for myself again one day after the divorce is finished!

Go ahead and buy it now and keep it at a buddies house or a family member's house. If you don't she is going to get half of the cash you would use to buy it. Go ahead and spend it because half of nuthin is nuthin.

you will probably be able to buy o/u for a long long time.

I would go for a tricked out AR15 and a 1911 handgun since they may be hard to get pretty soon

not sure the 1911 is on the chopping block because it is not "hi-cap"....and the AR builder I want to order from isn't taking orders.....

if you go handgun and have the budget a 1911 from Wilson/Baer/Ed Brown is the route I'd choose...(but a trip to Uraguay may not be much more)...for a more reasonable budget I'm partial to Springfield Armory/Series 70 Colts....

a good O/U is hard to beat...I am partial to Italian O/U's personally so that is what I'd recommend.... mechanically (apart from the replacable shoulder blocks) all the 680 series berettas are the the same (Silver Pidgeon, 686, 687, 682)...there are only minor differences of finish/scrollwork and maybe an adjustable trigger here or there....and please, for the love of all that is sacred in the world of firearms, if they are offering the "extra wood", or whatever they call it, don't get it ....of course I'm partial to an oil finish on my gunstock too.....

I got Chopper's 20ga Citori I'll sell ya CHEAP!!! :D :D :D :D Just kidding, I am really going to keep it for ever!

As far as an O/U goes, I shoot a Ruger Red label. I have had some problems as of late, but the gun has served me well. I will be up grading to a Beretta 686.

Pistols, If you can afford it, go Sig. If not, Glock. That said my next pistol purchase will probably be a Taurus PT145 or PT140.
