the first one i did i used a mountain bike but i highly reccomend trying to borrow a road bike if at all possible... it will feel like your going up hill in the sand if you use the mountain bike.

You can use a mountain bike. The Soak up the Sun in Madison is going to have a mountian bike catagory this year.

It is 250Meter swim/ 8 mile ride/ 2 mile run.

If you are going to do longer rides, I would recommend borrowing a road bike or put some road tires on the mountain bike. First do the soak up the sun and see if your going to like doing these. If you do then the investment in a tri or road bike will come soon enough.

There is no thrill in easy sailing
When the sky is clear and blue,
There is no joy in merely doing things
Which anyone can do.

But there is some satisfaction
That is mighty sweet to take
When you reach a destination
That you thought you’d never make!!
