23 Minutes in Hell

Any of y'all read this book?
I am about 3/4 of the way through it. Very descriptive account of a guy that went to Hell for 23 minutes. He references Scripture all through his detailed account.
I had nightmares the first two nights I read it. I just cannot imagine eternity, much less eternity in that place.

Read, meditate, pray and seek God about the text in the book of Revelation and you will learn more about eternity and hell than you will ever get from this guys book.

Thanks. I have read and studied Revelation. But it is interesting to get another view on the subject. As I said, he referenced Scripture throughout the entire book. I have also done a few studies on demons and angels.
I think it's okay to actually read other books besides the Bible, so long as they are based on Scripture.

Good point.
I've never read the book. Perhaps he came close and perhaps God gave him a
scare for His own reasons, but I tend to believe if you die you stay that way.

I'm not gonna explain the entire book, but he was a Christian when he went. Is he telling the truth? I don't know. But there are some very good Scripture references in the book that explain things he experienced and saw. Everything he talks about he refers to Scripture. It's not a case of "I died and went to Hell and got a 2nd chance". I know that can't happen.
You really ought to read the book.

Hell has been described as absent of the presence of God, I believe Jesus experienced this through His death and resurrection
in our Apostles Creed we recite "...He descended into Hell, the thrid day he rose again"

But He also told the thief, "Today you will be with me in Paradise."
So I wonder if He made two stops?
The book goes into detail about Sheol, the lake of fire, the pits, the prison cells, demons, the lack of light, the total absence of God, the torment and the torture.
Basically there are two "stops" if you are not saved. Hell when you die, then the Lake of Fire after Judgement Day. At least that's the way I understand it. Hell is where you are tormented by Satan and his demons. All lost souls will be cast into the Lake of Fire after Judgement Day, including Satan and the demons.

hell has been described by whom in this manner? Jesus experienced being separated from God 2 bear the sins of the world. he didnt experience hell. where do u get this apostles creed u speak of? it's not in the Bible, so it must be a man made creed?

the thief on the cross was forgiven of his sins by Christ, whom had the power 2 do so while on earth. he will have made 2 stops when the day of judgement comes. hes in paradise now and when Jesus comes back the dead in Christ will rise and go 2 heaven along with the saved who are still alive then He comes back. look at the story of the rich man and lazarus, they had both died and gone to hades. lazarus went to paradise and the rich man went to torment. there a great gulf between the two. on the day of judgement lazarus will go to heaven and the rich man to hell.

Ding, ding, ding. It's on now. The age old arguement. Is this "soul sleep" you are espouseing? What about this Apostles Creed is there any truth to it? What is meant by Paul's words,
[i]to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord[i]?

Don't forget 1 Peter 3:18-20.
Jesus was raised in spirit? I thought it was a bodily resurrection. He did eat after the resurrection, right? Where's this "prison" he went to? Who are those being held in it? What did he proclaim to them?
Keep the pot stirring...

This reminds me of the old skit where Jesus and Satan are boxing. Jesus dies and Satan thinks he has Him in Hell and then boom. He's Alive, He's Alive all my sins are forgiven, thank the Lord He's Alive. HA HA Sorry had to bust out in song and all.

1 peter 3:19- in which also he went and made (before they went to prison) and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison. lets keep references in the context they were meant. and as far as soul sleep. reread my above post about the rich man and lazarus. after they died lazarus' spirit went to paradise and the rich man's went to torment. if the rich man's spirit was sleeping he wouldnt have been able to ask abraham to let lazarus dip his finger in water to cool his tongue or ask that lazarus be let go to tell the rich man's brothers about this place of torment.
