I remember a few weeks ago there was post on here about using sweet taters in a sack at the bottom of a duck hole to attract ducks......tell me do you just throw them in and leave them and then pull them up 10 days before you shoot that hole or do you need to put millet and corn out too or am I thinking about this wrong?
Cuase I have a hole I havent been able to shoot in 2 years and I found out there is still a few ducks still there and I want to see if I can get a few more in there just for me and my kids to shoot AT

I heard the sweet taters works well for Mallards/Wood Ducks..never did try it though...However, your corn/milo/millet may work if the waters isn't too deep....

Isn't this considered baiting by the feds?

I heard that for the sweet taters you have to boil the dog crap out of them then put them in the sack and sink them.

I've heard tell that a fellow can bury that sack of sweet putaters. I reckon them ducks can smell pretty good. I never have tried it. Makes me wonder if Benny was right when he once said those ducks can wind you.

what I want to know is, who was the first fellow to decide that sweet potatoes would attract ducks and what posessed him to boil em, put em in a sack, and en sink them?
And if they're not to deep for the ducks to get to -assuming they are trying to get to them- how do they untie the sack?

Hey fellars, first thought erey body new ducks/deer liked sweet taters.
Second, thought a lotta you fellars that's got great manipulated duck holes, say a low swag that you plant/flood corn could legally plant a hill of sweet taters with the corn and if they wouldn't rot by the time to flood, disc them some, and be legal with it! That's all. Puttin a sack of taters, corn, cottonseed meal, etc is baiting unless you gonna try to swing the 10 day rule. From what I'm hearing they would rot too soon in the Delta. I'll bet somebody gonna figure out how to do it legally. You reckon?

I got a sack of sweet tater slips one year from a local farmer. Put them in a low spot in my duckhole but they drowned out. They gotta have good sandy ground or they won't grow to well. The dang geese are addicted to them, though!
