not sure what yazoo county has other than the non factor kid, but listening to MRA's coach the other day, they are a very young inexperienced team (or so he said anyway).
On another note, i hear pillow put a BEAT DOWN on kirk.

we got one of those my senior year from them - we beat them the year before in the rain at their place under Reynolds...they wouldn't even shake hands after, coach carliasle (sp) was the first one off the field.
they were out for revenge the next year under coach hill (hubless harry and harry's angles) and boy did they get it....76-0 for our homecoming (48-0 @ the half...). needless to say, we didn't show our faces at the homecoming dance.
bevo gandy right - TD, bevo gandy left - TD, all night long. the coach had a 9th grader starting at d-tackle and he got his booty handed to him all night! 9th grade starting quarterback was telling us in the huddle mid-third quarter that he didn't want to play any more, but "hubs" wouldn't take him out...starting to see a pattern my senior year...

? that's what happens when a baseball head coach wants to be head football coach, too.

Holy jeepers, I haven't heard the name Bevo Gandy in about 20 years. Only reason I remember it is that we (JA) were having a pretty lousy year and MRA was kicking the hell out of everyone, and we put a 24-0 beat down on those guys and knocked Gandy out of the game in the 3rd quarter.
Funny the things we remember. I can't remember what I had for breakfast three days ago, but I can remember with pinpoint accuracy every detail of putting one through the uprights from 48 yards out on that September night in 1989.

always good to see someone from MPSA beat a public school. I don't beleive they ever let them play each other when I was playing.

I was there. It was more like a forced anal rape. It could have been 84 to zero had Pillow not pulled their starters 4 minutes into 3rd quarter. I felt sorry for the Kirk boys. They were totally out maned.

Played at Tallulah Academy. Won state in football in 1993, I believe.

I would like to see the MPSA v Public School record since they started doing this 3 years ago. The academy teams have won way more than they have lost. Starkville Academy was killed by Ackerman this weekend and Prep lost a very close game to Newton (a very good team) last year. Other than that, I cannot recall an academy team losing in the last three years, although I am sure they have.

played at prentiss christian school. we beat central hinds at prep in '93 for the state A championship.
seems along time ago, but i can still remember most every play for some strange reason.
cold as hades that night,
always wondered what the records would have held if the public vs. private thing got started, gator

a few of us the same age that played academy ball against each other in football and baseball, were talking about different things that we remembered from the games playing each other. A younger guy was listening in and after listening for a while just started shaking his head and finally asked..."how do y'all remember all the details, that was 20yrs ago?" we just looked at each other and didn't really have an answer, we just did...

Magnolia Academy back in '83-'84. It's not even there anymore. Move to Tupelo in '84 and didn't even go out my Senior year. Them boys were big and I didn't want to get my booty hurt.

Wasn't it just a couple of years ago when Prep beat Newton County 24-0 and beat Pearl 50-0? I think Newton County went on to a 11-2 record that year but Pearl had a losing season.

Prep beat Pearl 52-0 and had them 45-0 at halftime...I was at that game. Prep, and I am not exaggerating, could have easily hung 100 on Pearl had they not taken the starters out at halftime. To be fair, that Prep team was probably one of the better academy teams in MPSA history. They did shut out Newton 24-0. That was Newton's only loss until the playoffs.
