and i figure he's on this here website, but did anybody catch Mississippi Outdoors last night. One of the Shook boys was on there handgrabbing and at the beginning of the segment the question was asked how did he know where to grab and he said "we put out some boxes, and then use others we've found"...now I explain to the girlfriend that I would be pissed if he checked mine and explained to her its kind of like an honor thing among fishermen to not check others lines and boxes and such....she looked at me like who cares.....wwweeeelllllllll in a few minutes Shook starts talkin about other people checkin "his" boxes. I was like Pot-Meet Kettle...just seeing if anybody else caught this.

let me catch a man runnin my boxes, the hole will be full of barb'd wire next time he checks it. that's if he don't get a boat paddle across his face when i catch him to start with. that pisses me off more than anything.

I once caught some guys running my boxes down on the Coldwater River one afternoon. I didnt say anything, just kept puttin' on down the river to a spot where I knew these clowns had some boxes. We found those boxes and dragged them up onto the bank and smashed them into as many small pieces as possible, then I made a sign with some spray paint I happened to have and stuck it in the sand near the box wreckage that said, "Here's what happens when you f*#k with my sh*t mother f*%#@rs!!!" We then moved the remainder of the boxes they had that I was aware of and they became mine from that point on.

I'm not saying someone else checking your boxes is right by any means. Unfortunatly though the water way is public though and thats the price you pay. There is no bounds for tresspassing.

why the hell would stick your hand into a box that there has to be a pretty good chance of a cotton mouth curled up inside

Whats the diff b/t setting out structure to crappie fish on in public water and boxes? Once in the water and people find it you know they will fish it.

There's a group of guys that run the Coldwater river who run everyones stuff. We moved elsewhere and (not this year due to high water) we have been catchin the crap out of them.

Nope. But its still grounds for pissing me off. I consider it common courtesy not to mess with other people's stuff. Im the one who spent all winter tracking down scrap lumber and building boxes so that I can fish.
