there's a few, but I'll let them PM you instead of listing them.
I'm 45 minutes west of Red Stick if you have any questions about this direction.

really liked that area and may regret passing on that opportunity but they "lured" me in for one job at a particular salary, and once I got there began talk of another position they were "actually" hiring for that carried a lower compensation package
ol bait and switch

and since there seem to be so many from LA (I did not expect such an overwhelming response which is why I had thought to use the pm system)
my questions are regarding the area and surrounding areas, schools, etc
my job search has led me to a potential opening in that area and until now it has not really been an area I have considered moving
any pros or cons certainly welcome

i think the best schools(public) are going to be due east of BR on I-12 in livingston. If living in Br i would send them to catholic/private schools. nice towns around the area: New Roads about 35 min. drive North West, prairieville about 15 min. east on I-10, St. Francisville about 40 min drive north on 61, if you want to live in Br proper, you can look at living off of Acadian over by the lakes, think is called the garden district. there are also some nice neighborhood off of essen and seigen towards the river. let me know if you do make a decision to move, i have a buddy who is in the real estate bus, in Br. hope that helps you out a little

I can say the traffic in BR sucks since Katrina hit. It was bad before, but it is worse now.. I don't live there, but drive thru there a good bit..

Best schools are North of Baton Rouge in Zachary. I live in Baton Rouge so any questions ask me.

Yes, Zachary has the top rated public schools these days.
Public schools in Ascension Parish are also pretty good (Prairieville, Dutchtown). Central also seems to be a growing area with good schools. The only decent schools, it seems, in the city are private.

All four systems, Zachary, Central, Livingston, and East Ascension are great schools....I would find out which one is closer to your job and act accordingly....be sure and get in touch with one of us to point you in the right direction because the least driving you have to do the longer you will keep your sainty....for example, if your job is in the North BR area, you definately want to go to Zachary or Central, if south BR then Ascension and East BR then Livingston. The traffic is a pain most of the time.
