There are a bunch of good orthopaedic docs in Jackson. What type of injury are you dealing with? The answer to that question will determine who you may need to see. Virtually all of the top docs are fellowship trained in a particular discipline. If I am not mistaken O'Mara did a sports medicine fellowship and mostly does knees/scopes/etc.

Don't rule out the university either. They have some of the experts in the nation in particular types of surgery. Geisler is one of the most respected orthopods in the nation. As is Graves.

Matt Graves and Jay O'mara are two of the best in the State. They will both do a great job.

Dr. Sonny Rush in Meridian is well worth your drive. Sonny is one of the best and will take care of you. Whenever my shoulder gets bad enough, ill be having Sonny work on it.

i second this notion...he grew up with my mom since kids and he has fixed a bunch of broken bones in our family (particularly my bro and i) over the years. super guy and an awesome doc! no matter where i was in the country, i would go back to meridian to see him or i would go to another family friend/doc in houston that also grew up in meridian with my mom and dr. sonny

Exactly, you wouldn't want to go to an elbow guy for your knee. I think Dr. Shelton there with O'Mara is also good on knees.
