Headed to work this morn before the sun came up and bout 99% sure I heard specks flying high over my house. Just let the dog out tonight and I am 100% sure I heard snows flying over the house. Still havent seen any in the fields but they are in the area or south of here by now!

Guess they decided to catch that north wind and take a free ride to gods country. Only 1.5 more months till we can pop a cap.

My parent are visiting my sister's in Minneapolis. It snowed there on Friday night. Was suppose to snow in Chicago Saturday. That probably got them moving.

With all of the early cold weather and snow up North this year, will that translate to the ducks moving down our way earlier or does it have to be an extended period of cold and snow cover before they start to head down our way??

Bigducks, I haven't seen a thing.

Figured I'd hear something at night this weekend, but haven't seen or heard any birds.

On a moist-soil field around Stuttgart, I got a report of 150-200 ducks on one place (mostly teal, 25-30 pintail, and a few gadwall). No concentrations of mallards yet.

Saw about a dozen mallards yesterday circling a flooded cornfield...and my hunting buddy found about 50 pintail and teal feeding in a hole this past weekend. not huge numbers but more than I'm used to seeing in mid-october. come on, nov 27!

This time of year, waterfowl will begin their migrations not only based on weather conditions...but also they sense the shorter days to signal their movement. I read a great article about it years ago and have no idea what I did with it.

This is always a good time of year for high expectations, but they still have a ways to go. Check out the link: http://mdwfp.com/Level2/Wildlife/Game/W ... efault.asp

I was wondering if all the grain left in the fields due to farmers not getting it out because of weather will stop short any birds. Just a though
