Age and Score *Warning Poor Pics*

I love the ole "age and score" topic. Plus I think that it helps us all in getting a good idea of what is what. These were sent to me by a friend who wanted some expert advice. I told him I don't know about expert but I know where you can get plenty of advice. 8)

I'm guessing 4-5 yo deer. 152 for score. Good G2, great G3, mass looks ok and if he is as wide as he supposedly is on other pics (which mysteriously didn't make the email trip from his computer to mine) he should be north of 150. It would be better if the L brow tine was as long as the R. G2 on the L looks like 4.5-5 and G3 6-7. I base this on the fact that his ears should be 6-7" long.

i agree with you on the 4 year old. gonna have to disagree on the 150 though. I dont see him making 140. I think in the 130-135 range. IMHO :?

If he is 4 to 4.5, what do you see as his upside potential over the next couple of years or does one take him if the opportunity presented itself?

I'd bust his booty right now. I don't see him gaining much ground in the next few years. Maybe a bit better next year. Same odds that he might be worse.

Here is a deer that scores 130

140. if you will look at his tine length and the bases he is above the 130 mark. look at him in relation to the mounted deer that was posted on here. several inches heavier than that one.

Lets add it up. He's 17-18 inches wide. At the most, has 20 inch main beam on right side. 4 inch brow tine on right side. 5-6 inch G1, 6-7 inch G2 2-3 inch G3. The right side looks bigger.......so even if we doubled the right side he wouldn't score over 130. I'd say he only has 3 1/2 to 4 inch bases. His brisket area looks a little thin so 3 1/2 likely. You have good foundation for a nice one in a year or two.

We scored it when it was mounted. I think it was 130 and 120-123 net. It is in batonrouge. I'll remeasure next time I'm down that way.
