HA...the SBEII is a great gun, wouldn't shoot anything else. Like the SBI also. Am I about to be the butt of a inside joke? Both great products

I bought a SBE2 just a few weeks ago. Needed (wanted) a new gun and I went with this one to see what all the fuss is about. Switched from a gas gun(SX3) to the Benelli. I really like it. Easy to clean and I've shot everything from 1 ounce trap loads to 3 1/2's BBB without any hiccups.

I mean maybe the one i shot was just a fluke.... I know alot of folks who swear by them , but im not droppin 1500+ on a shot gun when theres other guns out there like the sx 2 and sx3 and the 1187 and othersa that perform just as well. I think they have a bit of a plastic like cheap feel to them. just my two cents.

Correct. There was no reason for the SBE to be the SBE I until they came out with the SBE II. Think about it.

I have though about it.I read on another forum that the first h&k imports were sbe's the latter were called sbe 1's and shortly after sbe 2's.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be an booty. Something about having to work Sat and Sun to make up for someone else's myopic ineptitude tends to put me in a bad mood. First there was the Black Eagle it was a 3" gun. You won't see many of these. Then when Benelli made the 3.5" gun it became the Super Black Eagle. HK was importer of these until about Y2K. These will have HK on the reciever and have a low rib on the barrell. Around Y2K Benelli started importing guns themselves. These guns have the raised vent rib on the barrell. This is around the time the left hand version came out. This is also when they upgraded the ejector and added the groove to the bottom of the bolt that keeps the later guns from floating the forth. SBEII added comfortech stock (wood is available), stainless action spring in the stock and extended internal chokes.

I have an SBE. I've shot the SBEII can't see any reason for me to upgrade. My SBE has been dead nuts reliable and all I've ever done is clean it. Two negatives to the SBE...the action spring in the stock can rust if not kept lubed. This is easy enough. With the gun broken down push in the plunger with a screw driver or cleaning rod and load it up with CLP. Work the spring in and out and your done. Then second is the barrel diameter is smaller than nominal for a 12 guage. It can be tough to get great patterns with large shot sizes and factory chokes. If you want a good choke for not much dough pick up a Briley or Trulock LMOD. If you want to spend a little more pick up a Terror .700 from SRM Machine. (They also make the "sure cycle" stainless spring upgrade). The Terror will consistantly pattern everything you can load in the gun in the high 70% range. Good to about 45yds.

My $.02.

if you dont buy it let me know and I will buy it and give you a finders fee. I will give $500 all day long for a synthetic sbe I. I owned a SBE II and it was junk. I love my sbe I though.
