Opening weekend...Venice, LA

Just got back from a cast and blast in Venice, La with some friends. We were able to have four limits of teal first thing opening morning. We saw several big ducks, but they were flying too high and never would come down. The second and third morning was not good at all. We killed two spoonbills and a couple of teal. As far as the fishing is concerned, the water was very high and moving fast, as expected. Very muddy as well. We moved to some of the rigs and were able to catch about 30 10-15 lb Red Snapper on light tackle. Unfortunately, due to the season restrictions we could not keep any of them. Anyway, all in all a very slow weekend, but still lots of fun. Here are some pics.

Fishing seems kinda weak, but then again I've never been to Venice. Should be some reds and specs back up in the marsh somewhere.

Whoa.... Bengal tiger. IS this the actual Mr. Atwood making a showing around here?
Bayoucoon, glad you had a good hunt down there. Next time you're down let us know you can stop by the camp and have a beer. Gald ya'll had a good opener, to fish right now you have to get out of the river.
