Every year about this time folks come out of the shadows to glean whatever information they might from the wealth of internet wisdom. As I read these inquisitive posts, I can't help but wonder what our waterfowling forefathers would think of such queries.

I thought about this the other day when I was lookin at a freakin bird's eye view of some sloughs on the internet. I was thinkin about what my great uncles and grandfather woulda thought about being able to see something from their living room that they'd otherwise have to map out with their boots.

I'll be honest with you, I got drawn for a deer hunt at a WMA earlier in the year. I drove through the place once just to familiarize myself with the roads, and did 100% of my scouting via "Bird's Eye" you spoke of. It paid off, my #1 spot was unbelievable...we saw 16 deer the first evening of the hunt 9 does and 7 bucks including 4 SHO-NUFF big boys. Had to kill a doe first but my oldest daughter never could make it happen. (so I killed a doe the 2nd evening) Then then next 2 afternoons she couldn't make it happen on any of the bucks we saw...and we saw PLENTY!!

What do you mean 'probably'? I'm guessing that's why the first post of this thread has such a pic on it.
And for the record, "bird's Eye scouting" ain't the problem. That's just a tool for scouting. The problem is the fair weather hunters that ask, "Hey, where y'all killin' ducks?" And then them setting up 50 yards from you and skyblasting.

Yes.
But Most of use the internet now for so many things that we used to do in person.
Look at Auto's and prices.
Decoys
Shells
Household goods
...
So why not use the internet for the initial Scouting??
Sure, you need to put in the leg work after that.
But be Honest.... we all have saved a bunch of time and gotten a lot more done, when we chck-it-out on the internet first.
