I have a 3 month old lab. He is retrieving pretty good, but evertime I try to get him to retrieve a wing he just wants to chew on it. What can I do to break him from that?

I'm guessing that you introduced the wing too early to him. I pretty much did the same thing with doves. Just lay off on using the wings til he's 4 or 5 months old.

make sure you are tying the wing to a dummy, old brush with stiff brissles or something. This is the best way to teach them to have a soft mouth. Don't just give him the wing. If you put it on a brush, he definetly want chew on it anymore.

On tue and wed of last week were by far the worst training days ever, he totally shut down, refused to retrieve anything, would just go to sniffing around and such. I left his booty in the pen for 3 days without giving him any attention......and the last few days have been awesome. I don't know what happened on those two days. I just hope I never have any days like those again.
