i have a 4 month old male chessy has anyone ever trained one if so tell me something about them the lil dog is crazy he bits everyone who trys to pet him will not listen and his bathroom area is right at the back door my folk are gonna make me get rid of him and im trying everything i know to make him a well mannered dog but im having no success so please any tips would be great

IMHO its NOT the pup it's YOU ! it does not sound like you have done your part , where did you get him ? did you research the ped. ? have you ever been around a chessie ? do you know what to do when he does something wrong and when to do it ?

But your biggest problem is it is a Chessie and they are just like that.

This is NOT true , ask anyone who has ever been around any of mine , and since (I) have 6 of them i think its how they are raised !

Almost forgot , they are NOT for everyone and that is a fact . But they are NOT the BAD dog that everyone thinks they are . Im not going to defend every chessie out there , nor am i going to jump on the wagon that ALL labs are the superior retriever (they are not) .

I will say i will run my dogs anywhere at anyones test , they can hold there own even if they are THUGS !

And i will go so far as to say (mine) do not meet a stranger , they may lick a blister on you .

Be careful about trying to educate the masses, no matter how hard you try to dummy down the lesson only those of the highest IQ have the ability to understand it. After all any one train a Lab, its takes a TRAINER to train a Chesapeake.

Chesapeakes the only true American Retriever, everything else is just a dog.

its hard to beat a good chessie... you'll need at least a 2 x 4.

Call allen... it takes someone that knows peaks to do anything with them. Throw all time lines and lab advice out da window.... its apples and oranges.

And and i agree... a fluffy golden dog is more likely to draw serious blood than any other breed. wont mess with them either. ha! travis

Seems like some of my FRIENDS would at least have something to say about my dogs , that is NOT always negative ! I have never used a 2X4 during training ,,,,,,way to heavy to keep in my back pocket !

A 4 month old out of control retriever pup (no matter the breed) is a handful . BUT if the owner of the pup does not know what to do , can drive you crazy , they chew on chit , they eat chit , and they chit on chit . Some crate training and a little OB and exercise could go a long way ,,,,,,and socialize the devel in him , let him meet new people and places BUT always control him/her !

O.K. I should say that Alan's dogs are very well behaved, and it's true, I've never seen him have to use a 2x4. In fact nothing stronger than a TAZER. They just look like Coyotes is all.
Apparently, Alan has no problem training Chessies, it's just the REAL dogs (black ones) that give him trouble.
