I am seriosly thinking of having a custom gun built. I know that alot of these questions will be opinionated but I like opinions from guys who have done it before. I understand there are lots of custom gun makers and custom gun parts. Any preferences and pics would surely be appreciated.
Action, barrels, rings, bases, and any other parts would be appreciated. Calibers?
This is a first for me so please excuse my ignorance.
I was thinking I may start off with Remington action because you can pick these guns up really cheap, was also thinking a Krieger barrel. Most def a Jewel trigger. Scope would be a Nightforce, or thats would I like to use. However im not sure about the stock or anything else and the things I do like aren't set in stone if you have any other ideas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you have pics of your gun and wouldn't mind sharing them I would love to see them too.
Thanks in advance.

I have just what you are decribing and I would sell it. Shoot me a pm if your interested. Even have the nightforce scope. It was built by Mcmillan bros. It is looks similar to this rifle but mine was built by them a few years back. http://www.mcmfamily.com/mcmillan-rifle ... ac-300.php
If you don't like the nightforce I also have a long range swarovski 6x24 ao, that I could change out. My rifle has a custom camo coating applied by custom weapons in Tupelo. The scope , rings(Leopold Mark IV), rifle and bipod are all camo. Jewel trigger, heavy fluted barrel, big mac tac. stock with moa shaved forearm for slide adjusting.

Here's you a couple of sites to check out.... Alot of information on these....
www.snipershide.com
www.6mmbr.com
www.gaprecision.com
They have classifieds adds on their discusion forums... You can find alot of great stuff second handed...
McMillan makes great stocks, but you can save a few bucks for the same thing by looking at the Manners stocks.
www.mannersstocks.com
HS Precision stocks are great and economical.....
Just decide what you want to do with the rifle and discuss that with your chosen gunsmith before you run out and buy large components such as stock and barrel. There's alot of things to take into consideration so that the rifle performs best for you.
Good Luck,

i have a remington 700 22-250 that i built first, then decided i wanted another long range gun (one is never enough
). built a 6mm remington on a nesika bay action with a lilja barrel and macmillan hunter/benchrest stock. both have jewell triggers and nightforce scopes. both are tack drivers. i went with the 6mm on the second one because i wanted something to shoot for long range accuracy with good velocity, shoot prairie dogs, hunt deer, and be able to shoot easily found factory ammo if needed. if i can get my scanner to work i will post some pictures. good web site to check for things you may want or need is http://www.shooters-supply.com/

pics of the 6mm

NP-R2 reticle is my favorite. makes it easy to adjust for wind and elevation.

Bigsig I have an almost identical gun except mine is a 6brx. I really like the Tooley stock. I have a few custom guns. You have most of the required components. I'd get something in a long action. Easier to reload if u do such a thing. NF is good but I think swaro and zeiss are a bit clearer. NF turrets are second to none. I'd look at the gunsmiths on 6mmbr. Chris maker at longshot rifles is really good. I've got one of his 260's and 1.5" 10 shot groups at 300 are very doable. Don't like the short action however.
Troll through the classified section at 6mmbr and snipershide and you should be able find the parts u need. Box em up and send them to a smith. Or they may have a custom forsale. Snipershide has a great GAP 300 win mag for sale right Now.
