beretta al391 Xtrema 2 choke

Postby sully1882 » Wed Jan 13, 2010 10:16 am

For the last 22 years I have hunted duck and turkey with my old faithful 870 express mag and have always shot with a full choke. As a year end bonus I bought myself a new Xtrema 2 shotgun that came with 5 different chokes. While reading through the information manual that came with the gun it says the full choke should not be used with steel, as a matter of fact the full and the next tightest choke are not safe with steel. What are you guys using in these Beretta's? As a side note: the hunting in central and northwest Arkansas this year has been great. Lots of water with blue and green wing teal, green heads, buffle heads, gadwall, canvasbacks, woodies, mergansers... you name it we probably shot it! Thanks ahead of time for any pointers and help!

I'm shooting a light mod Briley in mine when I'm hunting close in spots. When I hunt the fish ponds I shoot the improved mod that came with the gun. Don't worry about supposedly not being able to use it with steel, although I wouldn't use the full. With the IM I'm using 2 3/4" steel #3's and crushing ducks on the passing shots better than guys shooting 3 and 3 1/2" shells. I drew my circle, shot it, and counted. At 35 yards it's throwing a 75% pattern with it that looks extremely even with no gaps.
