I wish I had killed it but i didn't
The kids had no idea what it was, and the bird was pretty tore up.

the elusive hybrid between a Mallard and Gadwall. To bad it's beat up, would of made a good mount.

Congratulations! We have killed a couple over the years. I remember looking down when the dog brought it in and saying "WTF????" :D

How does it get characteristics from MALE mallard and MALE pintail. Is this a result of some type of homo breeding. ?

cool, a buddy and i shot one last year, luckily it wasn't shot up bad at all and it turned out to be an awsome mount

Nice duck. Its a Brewer's duck. Pintail hybrids almost always have blue bills per the biologist I talked with when we shot this Brewer's duck. This one has a little spring and no curls, too. All Brewers are like that, I am told. I am sure Pat Pitt can chime in with much more information.

If I had to guess, it is the mallard curlies that did not curl because of the gadwal genes.
