Going to be in Orange Beach during March 15-19 and want to do some fishing with a group of friends. What is biting during that time and is it worth chartering a boat for? Never fished down there this early in the year so any input is welcome.

The Capt. I have used and been very pleased with in Orange Beach is Capt. Denise Triegle, he is inshore but knows his stuff. He put us on the Kings and Spanish Mackeral last July when other boats came back with emty fish boxes. His Charter name is Find Me Fishin or FMF charters. He fishs out of Zekes Marina. He has also put us on Reds and Specks during the spring.

March is a tough month. No red snapper season and I thing grouper is closed now too. Should be good on sheephead, some spanish and pompano on the beach and some redfish. That is about 3-4 weeks before the cobia show up in decent numbers. You will see a lost one or two when the dogwoods and azaleas break out in full.

Dixie Bar is pretty cool. We took a boat down this year and wore them out.

An overnight trip finding the bluewater chasing tuna and billfish is hard to beat.
PM me and let me know what kind of fishing you want to do. I worked at Zeke's and Orange Marina for a few summers and have been fishing down there all my life. I know most of the Captains and their reputations so I will be able to tell you which boat you are gonna get your moneys worth on and which boats are trying to earn another check.
