Who uses a MAC?
Went to the Apple store this weekend and really liked a few of their computers. They are supposed to be the bomb.com as far as graphics and wondered if any of you used one for that.

I've never been a MAC fan, but I think I'll be taking a look at them when it's time for me to upgrade. I've got a couple of buddies that say once you get over the transitional period they are much easier to use and are now compatible with lots of Windows based software. They also come with lots of "built in" photo, video, and music editing software that is supposedly really good stuff.

This was THE biggest problem with MAC in past years. Everybody and their momma uses Windows based software, so it was very combersom to use a MAC. Now, alot of everything does talk to one another and simplifies everything. Aside from that, they are awesome computers, very powerful and way more secure than Windows. Now, they aren't cheap as you may have seen.

I bought a mac after my last p.os. dell with empashis on the s. I love my mac, if something happened to it I would buy one tommorow no hesitation. IT does take a little to get used to, but everything is plug and play none of that download driver bs. Customer service is outstanding!! Its amazing..when you call an english person actually knows the product and how to fix it...you dont get abudabi wanting you to try 500 diff things. When you open the screen it comes on...no waiting

photo wise i just download from my camera, dont fool with photoshop, but its alot easier to organize, print and view on my mac than my dell ever thought about.

only complaint with mine is for some reason when i try to print power point stuff for school it comes out blurry, however if the teacher has the presentation in pdf form it prints fine...maybe someone could help me with that not to hijack the thread?

Hey I am new member here so hopefully it's okay for me to reply before I post an introduction.

I am a graphic design and use to work for Apple. Apple has some of the best computer's in the world and I really enjoy the software. The reason so many graphic designers like them is during the dark ages, Apple's core users were graphic designers because Apple had some really great design software. Now Adobe is the forerunner with CS but Apple is still preferred because it gets out of the way and lets you do your job.

I use Aperture for my stuff although I have to say I like LightRoom a little better but they just released Aperture 3 which fixed my major complaints about them. I'd also strongly recommend purchasing a refurbished mac online if you aren't in a hurry to get one. Apple makes a quality product and they stand behind it. It's the same warranty refurbished verses new. Also get AppleCare, it's not an extended warranty but it's a repair or replace warranty. Meaning if they can't fix your computer problem they will give you a new computer off the floor.

It just comes down to what you want to do with your computer and where you want it to go. It will last you longer than a regular PC and when things run slowly just add more memory but never buy your memory from Apple. It's so expensive so buy from somewhere like macsales.com.

If there's any questions let me know and I'll be more than glad to assist you Also for anyone who has any questions about how to do something on mac just go to www.apple.com/findouthow

It's Mac not MAC but its okay. Hopefully I can help contribute to you guys more and more.

I am a Mac user as well and I would never consider anything else. You get what you pay for.

my brother is a 4th year surgery resident over at UAB. he was in the very middle of some research that he had to deliver to a big group of colleagues in chicago last year when his dell crashed......he lost everything, but thankfully had a good bit backed up and was early enough into it he could back track.

he went with a mac afterwards......he came by the visit a week or so ago and completely sold me on one......probably my next big purchase.

Seems like I may be the only person in history who has had one crash...well actually it is my wife's computer. I got it for her last August and it blinked out December 28th, lost all her info, pictures, etc (gotta back this stuff up constantly, I know you know that though Tuel).... they are great computers but not bulletproof...and you can always load Windows on the new ones if you like it better....

for photoshop, I do not think the difference is as great as it used to be back when they still used the motorola chips...but, they are still good premium computers!

Oh I've had one laptop have to have a hard drive replace 3 times before I got a brand new computer as a replacement for free.

Mac's aren't bulletproof but they tend to handle stuff better than the Windows counterparts mainly due to a better file system and being a Unix machine. I tell anyone they are a fool if they don't back up their systems at least once a month. I think the difference between photoshop from the G4 days is mainly because Adobe has bloated their software so much that it's not as lean as it once was during the PS7-CS days.
