Need some advice-Quitman County.

Looks like I'll be making a move to Quitman county sometime next year. If anybody from that area has any information about houses for rent, I'd appreciate the help. Looking for something decent, in the country away from the hustle and bustle of the city....LOL!
Also looking for a good school. I figure schools in Quitman are about the same as anything in Humphreys, so I'm looking outside the county. My wife's a teacher, so wherever she teaches(public), my daughter could go when she gets school age. What does Batesville have to offer? What about Hernando?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Wingman

Hernando schools, which are in the Desoto County school system are probably in the top 5-10% of the state. Batesville / Panola county are not quite as good.

Wingman, when your wife gets ready to start talking to folks, I have some connections up there.

The best thing to do would be to find a place in Panola County since you have to have a Panola address to enroll in Panola Schools. Marks is only 9-10 miles (guessing) from the Panola line.
Unlucky Ducky is biased because he lives in Desoto County. Panola schools are good schools, as I am a product of them.
The other option is to enroll in private school. There is Delta Academy in Marks and North Delta in Batesville.
Good Luck.

Being that my wife is a teacher, I think wherever she teaches, our kids can go.
I am a product of a delta academy, and frankly, I don't see how anyone making average money can afford it.
I'll check into it. Thanks for the help so far, fellas.

Where in Quitman County. Spent a lot of time between Sledge and Lambert. I am from Crenshaw in Panola County. My mother still lives in Crenshaw. Graduated high school at North Panola. Prejudiced or not----Desoto County has a far superior school system than Panola or Quitman.

Two obvious choices: Batesville or Oxford. Neither will be that bad a drive. Good luck and congrats.

Not sure, Chance. Just Quitman county.
How far of a drive is Hernando or Oxford from Marks?
I mean, we're talking 300 bucks a month just for tuition here at Humphreys Academy, not including all of those activity fees and other junk. By the time you figure it, you're paying 5-6000 dollars a year just for ONE KID to go thru 1st grade and up. Pretty much, you pay college rates from the day they start first grade until they finish college. And there's no way that I would send my daughter to a delta public school. Maybe, maaaaybe a son, but not a daughter.
Thanks again,
Wingman
well---

Batesville is not a bad drive from Marks but Oxford is. Still further east. Hernando is a pretty far drive too. Don't know where your wife is wanting to teach but pay is better for teachers in Tunica County and Desoto County. Pay is much better in Tenn. My wife teaches and we have a lot of friends who teach in Desoto County. Principals in Southaven who duck hunt too. If this turns out to be real, maybe give us a call. We might can help you in your search.

Wingma, the only reason I have the guided Duck Hunts is to pay for private school for 3.

It's pretty definite, Chance, it'll just be a few months before it happens.

Wingman, the wife and I looked at Hernando when we made our move. The town is nice and the schools are decent to. We moved to Horn Lake because they have a WALMART. I hear that Senotobia has a Walmart-nice town also, lots of "country",may want to kick the tires in that area. Good luck!

I am sure Strider or Delta would love to enroll a new student or two.
