What goes in to pricing for having a new power line run through hilly, timbered terrain? Is it priced by the linear foot or what? Does Entergy handle it or the property owner? Is an existing road, trail preferred by the utility company or the straightest shot? Any and all info, experiences about getting newly-supplied utilities to camps, cabins would be welcome.

You can call Entergy and they will send an engineer to your location and look at what your wanting to do. I know here, they run overhead for free. If your doing buried, then you have to buy and bury the pipe and they come and pull the wire afterwards.

I had one put down last year and they like to go down a road if they can. Then straight line if no road nearby. If they have to cut trees its extra. One meter will get you 600 ft for free if no trees cut. Call 1800 Entergy and they can set up an appointment for an engineer to come out and take all the measurements

Anybody know an order-of-magnitude guesstimate for something like 1/2-mile. We talking $5-10k or "cost prohibitive?"

This is mostly thinking outside the box at this stage -- nothing too important.

When I built my new house, they gave me 2 poles for free. If I needed more than that, it would have been $400/pole (I think) extra.

You talkin single phase or three phase? Going down a ROW or going cross country thru the woods? Single phase is around 2 bucks a foot if no clearing is involved. That includes your poles and transformer. Three phase gets on up in the 6 to 8 dollar range depending on several factors.

Single phase. Scenario in my head would take it along a ridgetop with an unimproved road, most direct path from existing powerline.

just cost me about 8 grand for 1500+- feet first 600 free thats in south panola county. its a freaking rip off. if you know someone you can get it done free i found out after the face. i am still pissed.

Overhead will also require a 30 easement/path for the run. TT
