Man room in the making.

Postby teul2 » Wed Jun 02, 2010 8:51 pm

Well, as some of you know I have been redoing a room. It will soon be my trophy / man room. Here are some of the before pictures. I failed to take pics before we sanded the heart pine floors.

My main focus at first was to to strip the mantle. I may never take a challenge like this on again with out being able to take it outside / to a shop to work on it.
I was surprised to find it was pine also.

I would like to go back in time to shake the hand of the SOB that shelacked this mantle. Once the majority of paint was off, I could wipe the rest off with denatured alcohol.

Missing some pics somewhere, but skip forward to paint and crown molding.

Heart pine floors stained with Antique Walnut stain, 2 coats of gloss poly for strength, and 2 coats of satin for looks and cause it shows scratches less than gloss.

Have yet to put the bull's eyes back on the mantle.

That goose neck really adds flair to the whole decor.

But I like it.

Everything looks good. I have remodeled a bathroom before and realized it's a much bigger pain in the rear than thought. Always nice to know the work done is by your own hands. Makes the project that much better.

Very nice! That has to be a one-of-a-kind shoulder mount you've got there!

That blue is something my dad did a long time ago. I assume because he couldn't afford a full body.
It's an odd little mount, but I like it.

I like it, too! Little oddities like that are what make up the character of a room you're trying to personalize. It will be a great conversation piece. Especially since you dad did it!

The goose head is hilarious. Guarantee 90% of the people that go in there will remember that before they do a nice deer.
